After Kanye West tweeted an announcement that he is entering the US presidential race, Twitter took the unusual step of immediately flagging the tweet for being “the fucking stupidest thing ever.” The flagging is a sign of an increasingly aggressive effort by Twitter to combat toxic content on its platform.
“Kanye will probably be upset that we flagged his post, but, unlike Facebook, we have standards,” said Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. “The American public, especially Republicans, needs to know the difference between reality and things that are so freaking idiotic that they’re indistinguishable from satire.”
Although he has previously claimed to be a supporter of the president, West’s candidacy is a direct challenge to the highly unpopular Trump. Unfortunately for West, however, he has already missed many key filing deadlines and appears to have failed to take any of the necessary steps to actually appear on any state’s ballot. Still, West’s overconfidence in himself and his personal appeal has convinced him he can win.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” said West while wearing a MAGA hat. “As for Trump, I’m really happy for him and I’mma let him finish, but I have one of the best campaigns of all time!”
Fortunately, Kanye has already landed a major endorsement from wealthy inventor and fellow douchebag Elon Musk, who has repeatedly shown himself to have good judgment and a keen understanding of the needs of average folks.
