WASHINGTON, DC – As clocks jumped ahead from 2am to 3am this morning to implement daylight saving time, top Republican lawmakers were quick to pin the blame for losing an hour on President Joe Biden and his policies.
“America keeps losing under Joe Biden,” said Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC). “During the Trump Administration, not once did we ever lose an hour. We only gained hours. That’s why those four years seemed like they lasted forever.”
The Biden Administration defended itself by pointing out that the hour of time is not actually lost, and that it will return in the fall when daylight saving time ends. He also pointed out that every President since FDR has followed the same daylight saving policy, which was created in 1942, but that didn’t stop Republican lawmakers from continuing to heap blame on Biden.
“Daylight savings? More like, daylight spending!” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). “Once again, the Democrat party has managed to create another deficit. When Republicans are back in charge, we’ll create millions of hours by taking the country back 100 years.”
When asked if blaming Biden for the spring forward also means he should get credit for the hour gained in the fall, Republicans sidestepped the question. “I’d love to stay here and debate this with you, but, unfortunately, I woke up an hour late this morning and have to get to a campaign rally,” said Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) on Sunday morning. “Putin really hates it when things don’t start on time.”
