TAKOMA PARK, MD – Neighborhood volunteers have organized a groundbreaking “Listserv Moderators for Harris” zoom meeting, the latest addition to a series of wildly popular virtual gatherings like “White Dudes for Harris” and “Black Women for Harris,” which boasted hundreds of thousands of participants.
“In these trying times, it’s important to recognize those who keep the fabric of our digital neighborhoods intact,” said Takoma Park’s Mayor, who has long championed the unsung efforts of local online gatekeepers. “The ‘Childless Cat Ladies’ had their chance to organize for Kamala, and now it’s time to hear from those forced to monitor hundreds of daily ‘Lost Cat’ posts.”
The Zoom call promises to be an epic digital summit, bringing in listserv, Facebook group, and Reddit moderators, from across the nation to raise money for Harris while sharing tips of their trade. Attendees will discuss navigating the treacherous waters of neighborly disputes, enforcing civility with an iron fist wrapped in a velvet glove, and, of course, the age-old question of whether “Reply All” should be banned outright.
“I’ve been moderating the Takoma Park listserv for over a decade,” said Nancy Greene, a local legend in the world of community email chains. “It’s about time we had a prosecutor like Kamala in charge – someone who understands the struggle of maintaining order against repeat offenders of our community guidelines.”
Participants can look forward to keynote speakers, including a surprise appearance by the elusive creator of the Takoma Park Buy Nothing group, who will share their wisdom on managing potential fights over free furniture and lightly used household items.
The event has already garnered significant attention, with registrations pouring in from as far as Oregon and Vermont. “I just had to be part of this,” said Lily Letters, a moderator from Portland. “Our listserv recently had a 48-hour debate over the correct way to dispose of dog poop baggies. We need solidarity!”
In order to log into the event, all participants must prove they are, in fact, a listserv moderator by answering all five mandatory verification questions. Also, participants’ screen names on the call must include their street name or they will be kicked off the call and permanently banned.
