SILVER SPRING, MD – Panic spread across lower Montgomery County this week amid reports that President Donald Trump is preparing to take over Sligo Creek Golf Course and convert the modest public course into a luxury private club known as “Mar-a-Sligo.”
While no official announcement has been made, county officials confirmed they are monitoring the situation very nervously after several men in red MAGA hats were reportedly seen measuring the clubhouse for gold trim.
“We’ve heard rumors that the snack bar could soon become a ballroom,” said one Montgomery Parks employee. “Honestly, we thought it was a joke until we noticed a rendering showing the 8th hole lake as a reflection pool.”
According to leaked plans, the future Mar-a-Sligo would feature valet parking for Teslas, a members-only cigar patio, and a 128 room villa overlooking the Capital Beltway. Additional amenities include a creekside champagne lounge, gilded urinals, and a luxury Botox bar offering the new “Mar-a-Sligo Face” – a cosmetic procedure designed to produce the permanent expression of someone simultaneously disgusted by public spending and furious their tee time was delayed by three minutes.
Trump has reportedly described the 9-hole municipal course as “an untapped world-class golf property held back for years by bureaucracy, affordable greens fees, and frankly too much accessibility.”
Community groups and local golfers are concerned that if a federal takeover goes through, the newly renovated, high-end courses will price out everyday citizens.
“This course belongs to the people,” said one local activist who fought off a proposal to build affordable housing on the golf course. “This should remain available to everyone regardless of income, skill level, or ability to attend weekday zoning meetings before 4 p.m.”
Others appeared conflicted.
“I mean, I hate everything about this,” said one Silver Spring golfer. “I consider myself an environmentalist, but if a few strategically placed trees happened to disappear from that dogleg on the 9th, I probably wouldn’t file a complaint.”
Sources say the proposed takeover could drastically alter surrounding neighborhoods with more upscale development. At press time, the planning department already reported new luxury condo proposals nearby including “Woodside Park Towers” and “The Lofts at Zinnia.”
