SILVER SPRING, MD – Fortune Magazine has ranked Silver Spring #1 in the “Best Places to Live for Families” list based on its ability to scare away people who constantly assert how dangerous this highly diverse suburb is despite having never stepped foot there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We fell in love with Silver Spring because it has great public transit access, restaurants with cuisines from all over the world, and several parks close to our home,” said local resident Daniele Muir. “But now that all these wimpy, conservative white men call it a ‘scary war zone’ and refuse to come here, it has become even more attractive for families.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Fortune magazine, Silver Spring stood out for its Arts & Entertainment District, 100-plus arts and humanities organizations, entertainment venues, and obvious lack of a Cracker Barrel. Residents can watch independent films at the AFI Silver Theatre, see live performances at the Fillmore, and enjoy a variety of concerts at the Civic Center beyond local dive bar Toby Keith cover bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While most Montgomery County residents cheered the welcoming news, not everyone agreed with the ranking. “Silver Spring is not even a real city,” bemoaned a Twitter account who isn’t even a real person and doesn’t even live in Montgomery County. “It’s also way too expensive and crowded for a place that nobody goes to anymore.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
